The Collaborative Network for Climate Change in Religious Education (CORE) brings together scholars from around the world to explore how Religious Education and Practical Theology can contribute to understanding and responding to climate change and global environmental changes.
The CORE conference 2026: Climate Collaborations will take place 2–3 June 2026.
The conference is free of charge and hosted by Borås University, Sweden, in collaboration with Stockholm School of Theology, Sweden.
Each day will feature a three-hour session aligned with major global time zones (Americas, Africa, and Europe). The programme is currently in development; all times will be indicated in UTC.

Climate change and global environmental changes are reshaping societies across the world and represent some of the most urgent challenges of our time. Although these issues are closely connected to questions of ethics, wellbeing, meaning-making and hope, perspectives from Religious Education are still not sufficiently visible in wider public conversations or in interdisciplinary research.
The Collaborative Network for Climate Change in Religious Education (CORE) was created to bring together scholars from many countries, disciplines and religious traditions who are committed to addressing these challenges within the field of Religious Education. The network seeks to encourage dialogue between different faith traditions, promote collaborative research and support the development of new educational approaches that engage thoughtfully with environmental change.
Membership is open to academic scholars with research interests in Religious Education, and participation is free of charge.
